My name is Ben Pearson, and I’m a retired police officer.
I served 19 years in West Yorkshire Police, mainly in their Roads Policing unit. I was also on the hit Channel 5 TV series “Police Interceptors”, appearing in series 15-16-17. This program is now shown world wide and in multiple TV channels such as Paramount, Forces TV, Dave and Bravo.
In 2020, I was medically retired from the Police, due to being diagnosed with severe complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety due to witnessing horrific events that no person should see.
Since retirement, I have written 3 books, 2 of which have been best sellers on Amazon (Handcuffed Emotions and Hotel Tango 23). I have also launched a “1965 PTSD Awareness” mental health clothing line, and have become an advocate for men's mental health. I am now a successful YouTuber and currently film alongside Channel 5 TV and Paramount TV Plus as their in house “Police Expert”.
I am extremely proud of what I've achieved over the last few years with a positive mind set, and refusing to settle for second best.
Due to suffering from a mental illness, I thought my future was restricted leaving me nowhere to turn. I was told I wouldn’t succeed and to settle for a more simple life.
After years of therapy, I now continue to push my limits and boundaries. I am proud to lecture on mental health, positive thinking and crushing the stigma of men ( and women) hiding away their emotions.
I was born in 1976 in the Bradford area, to Stephen Michael Pearson and Irene Holmes, being the younger brother of Leyton. Our family lived the beautiful Saltaire Village until I was 5 years old, then deciding to move to the Wrose area of Shipley.
In 1980 I attended Blake Hill First School, until my family and I emigrated to Cala Bona, Majorca in 1985. My brother and I attended Son Servera Junior School for 12 months, before returning back to the Shipley area of Bradford.
My parents settled in Nabwood, and it was there that I attended Wycliffe Middle School and Salts Grammar.
I began working at 14 years old, helping my father with his tiling business, stacking shelves at Saltaire Wines, and sanding brass at J Clack & Co.
Leaving school in 1992, I began to work as a Green Keeper at Northcliffe Golf Club, tiling with my father to earn my apprenticeship, before moving on to sell BMW motorcycles at Alan Jeffries BMW in Baildon.
In 2001, I gained entry into West Yorkshire Police, and proudly served for 19 years in the operational support-road traffic unit, stationed at Bradford.
I served with an exemplary policing record, receiving over 8 divisional commendations for bravery and efforts in denying criminals the use of the roads, and two judges commendations for the arrest of serious offenders, one resulting in a life in prison sentences.
On 27th October 2020, I was officially medically retired having been diagnosed with complex work related PTSD, severe depression and anxiety.
I currently live in the Bingley are of West Yorkshire, with my partner Milly and two children.
